Season 2026 comes to an end – FIA ERC in sight for next season

Season 2026 was marked by both success and setbacks. Now focus is already shifted to next year, with the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC) in target.

The goals for the 2026 season were to win the Finnish Rallysprint Championship and gain experience on asphalt and competing abroad, with an eye on the future. While the latter objectives were achieved, the Championship title unfortunately remained out of reach.

An off-road excursion at Rally Larvik in early September caused extensive damage to the car, forcing Pentinpuro to miss the final two rounds of the Finnish Rallysprint Championship. He ultimately finished fifth in the four-wheel-drive category standings. In the four rounds he competed in, he secured two victories and two second-place finishes.

- It was a huge disappointment to see the season end before the final two rounds. I would have wanted to fight for the title right to the end, especially as this was likely to be my last Finnish Rallysprint Championship campaign for some time. My belief in our chances and my determination to fight for the title were strong.

- This was my third season in the Finnish Rallysprint Championship. I would like to thank the championship organisers, event organisers and fellow competitors for the great battles and valuable lessons. Many of my fellow competitors have also become friends. Never say never, but at least for the next few years, I’ll be focusing on new challenges.

The highlights of the season included his first competitions abroad, the pace he was able to achieve on asphalt, and victory in the Nelivetomies event held alongside Rally Finland in Jyväskylä.

- Vetomies is a unique event in terms of both its atmosphere and the route. It was fantastic to finish first, especially in my very first appearance. The other competitors already had several Vetomies events under their belts.

Building new partnerships

Although the season ended earlier than planned, Pentinpuro and his team have not dwelled on the disappointment. Their focus is firmly on the future. In early October, a partnership with SuperActive was announced. SuperActive acts as a commercial growth partner for athletes, with the collaboration aiming to develop Jarno’s personal brand, build new partnerships and create sponsorship opportunities that allow companies to become a genuine part of his journey towards an international motorsport career.

The next goal: FIA European Rally Championship

A clear target has been set for next season: to take the next step as a driver and make the move towards the FIA European Rally Championship (ERC). During the remainder of the year, the aim is to make the most of the available time and resources in preparation for the upcoming season. The first test sessions ahead of next year are already being planned for the coming weeks.

- A huge thanks to everyone who has been involved this season: my co-drivers, the team, our partners and everyone who has supported and encouraged us. Your work and support have been invaluable. Let’s keep moving forward together towards next season!
